Arjun Tendulkar Delivers All-round Performance at SCG,

New Delhi: Sachin Tendulkar’s son Arjun had recently impressed one and all with his bowling in the Cooch Behar Trophy. Now the 18-year-old has grabbed the eyeballs due to his all-round performance in the ongoing Spirit of Cricket Global Challenge, organised by the Sydney Cricket Ground.

Playing for the Cricket Club of India in a T20 match, Arjun hit 48 runs from just 27 balls and then picked up four wickets in as many overs. Arjun unlike his father, is a left-hand batsman and a fast bolwer. “I just got stronger [growing up], grew taller and I loved bowling fast from my childhood. I thought I may well be a quick bowler because there aren’t many in India,” Arjun told abc.net.au on Thursday.

The fast bowling all-rounder who draws inspiration from Mitchell Starc and Ben Stokes, does not carry any pressure of expectations. He said, “I don’t take that pressure, when I bowl I just hit the deck hard on every ball and when I bat just play my shots and choose which bowlers to take on and which bowlers not to.”

The Spirit of Cricket Global Challenge started on January 7, and will continue till 14 January. The teams participating at the event are SCG XI, Marylebone Cricket Club, Cricketer’s Club of India, Singapore Cricket Club, Hong Kong Cricket Club, South Australian Cricket Association, Singalese Cricket Club and Izingari.
